BULLETIN BITS

Our Baptism is a consecration to service. The bishops’ pastoral on stewardship reminds us that “… there is a fundamental obligation arising from the Sacrament of Baptism that people place their gifts, their resources – their selves – at God’s service in and through the Church.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA PICTURES

We still have many pictures of the children who had Breakfast with Santa. If your child was there, please drop by the Rectory to select your child’s picture.

TAX DEDUCTIONS

Due to recent changes in the federal tax laws for charitable contributions, parishioners who itemize deductions on Schedule A of their tax returns will no longer be able to deduct contributions to the parish unless they maintain a bank record or receive a written contribution statement from the parish. Cash contributions that are not in a parish envelope cannot be tracked by the parish and will not be included in the year-end contribution statement. To ensure deductibility for 2007 contributions to our parish, the following payment methods are recommended:
  1. Use of parish envelopes
  2. Written check made payable to the parish
  3. Direct deposit from your bank account
  4. Payroll deduction

FOR ALL YOU WORD LOVERS

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

So quickly the young boy Jesus grows up. He is now a man and the Gospel tells us that He is baptized by His cousin John. Jesus has to do what he has come for. Like Him, every person is born with a mission in life. God has placed us on earth basically to do good. We go back to Him, not with empty hands, but with good deeds. Jesus’ baptism is His public commissioning to Israel. Jesus is more than carpenter. Now is His time to go forth and preach, work miracles and spend His days for others. Unselfishly He offers His whole being in faith and trust in God. We know it will lead eventually to His sacrifice on the cross. Even when He does that he gains something greater than what He gave up in this life: resurrection from the dead.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
