BULLETIN BITS

Today we remember the three wise men from the East who came to pay homage to the infant Jesus, bringing Him rich gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. The gifts we bring – our time, service and some share of what we earn for the work we do – are equally precious in His sight.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

This Sunday ends our Christmas season. In many foreign countries this was the feast day when families and friends exchanged gifts reminiscent of the visit of the Magi. These visitors were gentiles, foreigners. The significance of today’s celebration is this. Jesus has come for all people regardless of race, origin, or national boundaries. The Church is not exclusive but inclusive. Jesus came to save everyone, not just Jews, not just Christians. In Jesus’ day God loved only them and everyone else was excluded. If the astrologers did not venture out, follow the star, put their lives on the line, if they did not refuse to listen to the negative comments of others, they would not have found Jesus. What star do we follow? Where do we look for love, for meaning, for happiness? Is there someone other than Jesus?

Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.

THE CHRISTMAS COLLECTION FOR THE SICK AND RETIRED PRIESTS AMOUNTED TO $14,841 FOR WHICH WE ARE MOST APPRECIATIVE.

BABY BOTTLE THANK YOU!!!

The total amount provided was $2,030. God bless you for your charity. Anyone who has not yet returned their bottle should bring it to St. Barbara’s rectory at your earliest convenience.
