BULLETIN BITS

Joseph’s obedience to God was not a one-time thing. His attention to the angel’s warning kept Jesus from being murdered by Herod and led to the fulfillment of the prophecy that the Messiah would be a Nazorean. Fidelity to God’s will assures the best use of my talents, too!

USHERS NEEDED

We have a great corps of Ushers who help at Masses week after week. We are currently in need of more ushers at all Masses so if you can help, please call the rectory or Jack Cornell 781-935-4643.

A GREAT BIG “THANK YOU”

right from the heart to all of our parishioners and friends for the many delicious goodies that have come pouring into the rectory these past few weeks – the cards, candies, fruit, cookies, etc. We truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity and we are thoroughly enjoying each and every one. We, for our part, promise to remember you and your families in our Masses and prayers this Christmas season.

FOOD COLLECTION

for families helped through Woburn Social Concern, is being held this weekend, December 29/30th. We thank you for all you do to help the needy families in our area.

35th ANNUAL MARCH FOR LIFE

The Immaculate Conception (Malden/Medford) Respect Life Committee is planning a pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. The group will leave Malden (secondary pick-up at St. Margaret’s Church, Burlington) by motor coach on Monday morning, January 21st and return Wednesday evening, January 23rd. Cost $250 p.p. double occupancy, ($400 single) until January 4th (a little higher after that date). Please call Janet Callahan 781-324-3564 to register or for more information.

WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT YOU??

To all who have assisted us as needed throughout the past year…Lectors, Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, the members of C-A-L-M who deliver plants to homebound parishioners at Easter & Christmas, the Senior Choir, our Ministers of Care who, week after week, administer to the sick at the Rehab, to Phil Hawley, Leo Bahan & Tony Galluzzo who ably assist us at funerals, to all the ladies who help with the altar, the grounds, etc. to Peg & Arthur Flaherty for the beautiful outdoor decorations, to all the Committee Members who were responsible for the many successful Fundraisers throughout the year (so much fun and so beneficial to the Parish), and last, but certainly not least, special thanks to our custodian, Jim Power, our “all-around St. Joseph”… always there when you need him!! To all those UNHERALDED parishioners, too numerous to mention, we offer a great big ‘THANK YOU’ for all that you do for our Parish. God bless you all in the coming year!

FIRST FRIDAY DEVOTIONS

this coming Friday, January 4th, following the 9 a.m. Mass closing with Benediction at 5:00 p.m. For anyone who is able to spend a half-hour or so in front of the Blessed Sacrament in the Prayer Room, sign-up sheets will be found in the lower church hall where daily Mass is celebrated.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Jesus came to dwell on earth through the natural process of birth. He is born in a family. As in the body cells are the basis for all life, so the stability of the family is absolutely necessary for a well-ordered society. Families are the cells of society. Mary and Joseph had their stresses, tensions and difficulties at the time of pregnancy and Jesus’ birth. Today many families are overwhelmed with stress, tensions, and are fragmented. Many homes are dysfunctional. Some people feel the old-fashioned values are obsolete and unwarranted. The result: crime is on the rise, people feel isolated from themselves and others and disconnected from reality. Parents sometimes feel they do not know their children any longer and tune them off. There are problems everywhere. Where did Mary and Joseph find Jesus when He was a teenager? In the Father’s house. If we find Him in the Father’s house, if we unburden ourselves, we will find peace, comfort, strength and the motivation to keep on believing, trusting and praying.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
CONGRATULATIONS to JOHN SULLIVAN, a faithful parishioner who has been appointed by Cardinal Sean O’Malley to the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, an advisory board to the Cardinal on all aspects of Archdiocesan and parish organization.

OUR SINCERE THANKS to MARY LAWTON, the Chairperson of our Christmas Santa – “Jamie’s Joy”, her committee and to all our parishioners and friends who bought gifts and donated to this important outreach to needy families in the Woburn area. This program is in conjunction with Woburn Social Concern which is always in need of food and financial help during the year.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
