BULLETIN BITS

Each of us has his or her own role to play in the coming of the kingdom of God. John the Baptist was called to be the herald of the Messiah, preparing the way of the Lord. To what is the Lord calling me?

PILGRIMAGE TO ROME, ITALY AND VATICAN CITY STATE

You are invited to join Fr. William M. Sullivan on pilgrimage to Rome and Florence, Assisi, Arezzo and Orvieto. Our pilgrimage will concentrate on the Faith and Art of central Italy. Departing Boston May 25, 2008, we will visit some of the most beautiful churches and places in Europe. The food will surpass all expectations. This trip will strengthen your love for our Holy Mother Church, and its history, art and architecture. Detailed itinerary and costs are available at the rectory, from Fr. Sullivan. Please feel free to contact Fr. Sullivan at 781-933-4130.

FLOWERS FOR THE ALTAR

Soon we will be preparing our sanctuary for our celebration of the birth of Jesus. Abundant Christmas flowers enhance the joy and beauty of this season. If you have a loved one who is with God, or another who is simply difficult to shop for, we invite you to consider placing a flower/plant on the altar in memory of your loved one. The church will be open December 22/23/24 to receive your donations.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

John has been arrested and is imprisoned. He wonders if Jesus will be the deliverer for him and the people. Will He break the yoke of Roman occupation? He thinks, “If you are the Messiah why don’t you do something about all this injustice? Instead of revolution you speak of love, peace, forgiveness, and do nothing about the political situation. Is there someone else?” Jesus comes as the one who heals and forgives. In our own day we ask questions. The gospel doesn’t put a violent end to sin or evil. It answers those things with love, forgiveness and faith. Jesus did not wield the sword but extended His arms in friendship. Like John we sometimes are imprisoned in feelings and thoughts that hinder the action of Jesus in our lives. He did not come with an ax to cut down, or with thunderbolts, not did He instill fear in others. Can you love someone you fear or have faith in someone you are afraid of? What kind of religion is that?

Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
