THANKSGIVING MASS
Our Parish Thanksgiving Mass will be held on Wednesday evening, November 21st at 7:00 p.m. We invite all to join in giving thanks for the many blessings God has showered on our Parish families.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
We know Jesus is returning one day to planet earth “to take us with Him that where He is we also may be.” We do not know the day that will happen. There are signs that Jesus tells us will preclude His coming. One of the signs has already occurred, the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, which happened in 70 AD. St. Paul tells us that with the birth of Christ the final age came upon the world. How long will it last, we do not know. In our Creed we profess that: “He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.” After the consecration we sing: “Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.” In the season of advent, soon to begin, for the first two weeks, we read passages from the Old and New Testaments about this second coming of Jesus. There is a book in the New Testament, the Book of Revelation, that prophesizes this great event. Matthew 24, like our reading today from Luke, is prophetic literature from Christ about His second coming. The people of His day thought it would come soon after the ascension. We are still waiting. The point to the readings is to persevere in goodness while we wait. We wait “in joyful hope.” Not bitter, not anxious, not fearful of a terrible judgment since we will not experience the wrath of God. According to some we will be “raptured” out of this world before the final tribulation. Nor can we be idle. We have to go about doing good. Jesus will reward those who have done good to Him in the person of their neighbor.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
