BULLETIN BITS

Am I waiting for the “right” time to become a good steward? Do I plan to share my time and talents “later?” Today’s Gospel warns those who are procrastinating about stewardship to be prepared – “At an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”

FOOD PANTRY

Just to give you an update on the result of your food donations the Council of Social Concerns has advised us that the cost of the food that was picked up last week-end amounted to $500 for which they send their thanks. You can see how the giving really mounts up if each one brings one or two items to the weekend drive.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Jesus refuses to take sides in a conflict between brothers over the promulgation of a will. How many families have been torn asunder because of a similar situation? Jesus knows what the problem really is: greed and love of money. He tells the story of the farmer who piled up wealth, had big reserves, knew how to invest and make a gain. He was set for life. Then suddenly he dies. Who will get all his wealth? The relatives who neither earned it, agonized over it, or spent a sleepless night worrying as to how to increase capital. The man was rich in earthly goods, but what about eternal credit? Who could help him when he faced the Creator? Did he share his wealth? Did he think of others? Being rich, earning money honestly is not a curse or a sin. How we use it is critical. Giving some of our “bread” to the needy increases our chances for life, and, in the process, we receive more in order to give more. It really works. Place Jesus first, then everything else falls into place.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.

PYX??

In case you do not what this is – it is a small gold case that is used to carry the Hosts when one brings Holy Communion to the sick, infirm, etc. We have given these to quite a few parishioners when they have had illness in the family, etc. These are for you to keep so long as they are needed. If however you are not using them we would appreciate your returning them either to the sanctuary after Mass or to the rectory. We have so many requests for them it is difficult to keep a supply on hand.
