BULLETIN BITS

One of the miracles of Pentecost was that, despite their diversity, each listener heard God’s word in his or her own language. The meaning for stewardship is that by sharing the gifts poured out on us by the Holy Spirit, we will be empowered to meet the needs of our brothers and sisters, whatever they may be.

IRONY OF LIFE

An irony of life is that by the time you’re old enough to know your way around, you’re not going anywhere!

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Fifty days after Passover, our Easter, the Jews celebrated Pentecost, which was a spring harvest festival. Instead of a harvest of wheat and grain it was a harvest of people. The Holy Spirit anointed the apostles and those gathered with them. And from there the Good News was spread throughout the world. The apostles and missionaries followed the Roman roads and evangelized people in foreign countries. From that day to this, thousands of miles from Jerusalem, the Spirit is alive and uniting us in Christ. Despite all the problems the Church has encountered hearts and souls are still open to receive the Word of God and receiving baptism. The Spirit is empowering us to forgive sins, baptize, heal and teach those who come to Him.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.

TAKE THE TIME

Dear Lord, on this Memorial Day
Help us to be mindful
Of the sacrifices made in our name.
Help us to be thankful
For the men and women
Who died to protect our freedoms.
Help us to appreciate
All we’ve been given
Because they gave their lives.
Please give our men and women in the armed forces
The courage to do what is right.
Please shield them from harm,
Be their light even in their darkest hours,
And their hope in the face of difficulties.
Amen
