BULLETIN BITS

“Blessed are they who have not seen and yet believed,” Jesus says in today’s Gospel. For those who have not seen to believe, however, we must be good stewards of our faith, living it joyfully and sharing it generously. Then, in our time too, ”men and women in great numbers” will be “added to the Lord.”
See John 20:29, Acts 5:14

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Thomas will not believe that Jesus is alive and well. He has not seen Jesus so he will not believe the testimony of others. It was beyond him. After all, people do not come back to life after death. Thomas must have seen Jesus raise Lazarus, or at least met Lazarus after the event. But he could not accept Jesus’ resurrection, until he touches the nail marks in His hands and side. He gets his wish. Jesus commands Thomas to touch and believe. And then Jesus compliments those who will not see and believe. That is you and I. We have not seen yet we believe. How is it possible to believe in Someone we have not seen, nor touched? How can we believe in a God who is invisible and silent? We have been gifted to believe without seeing and touching. The gift is the Holy Spirit. The Spirit give us the faith necessary, infuses us with His love, makes it possible for us to believe without seeing. Something deep within us has been aroused, and without seeing we are convinced that God is real. The gospel is telling us the truth. God lives and we live because of Him. Now we see with the eyes of faith.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
