HELP!! HELP!! WE ARE SLOWLY SINKING
Friends of St. Barbara’s 1000 Club is going down, down, down. Can you help? This is a solid source of extra income for the Parish and has been in place for quite a few years – Maybe you have forgotten about it – maybe you have never joined – won’t you give it a try? We have quite a few numbers available – it’s only $5.00 a month for some very good prizes and we do all the work. where else can you get such a good deal? Prizes are (2) $500; $300, $200, $100 and (8) $50. Membership cards are available at the doors of the church and you may also call the rectory or Virginia at 781-933-5261. We will be more than happy to assist you.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Several of the apostles were fishermen, John, James, Andrew and his brother, Peter. So they knew the lake, the weather, the wind patterns, the time of day or night to go out into the deep and cast their nets. The lake was about 13 miles long and 10 miles wide. It sometimes is called the Sea of Galilee, but it is really a lake. Jesus asks the men to put out into the deepest part of the lake and lower their nets. Peter tells Him that they have been out all night and caught nothing. When the men lower the nets they catch such a great number of fish that the nets are almost at the breaking point. Jesus shows them that with Him in the boat they will be a success, not catching fish, but people in the net of His love. Faith is an adventure because we have to cast off into the deep, leave a sheltered port, and go beyond what is foreseeable to where the Spirit leads us. We will be all right so long as Jesus is in the boat with us, so long as He is our partner.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
