A SECOND COLLECTION

INCOME TAX STATEMENTS
All envelope users who are interested in obtaining a copy of their 2006 contributions to the Parish may call the rectory office at 781-933-4130 and we will be happy to mail a statement to you. Please note the following for 2007 contributions:
- TAX DEDUCTIONS
- Due to recent changes in the federal tax laws for charitable contributions, beginning in 2007, parishioners who itemize deductions on Schedule A of their tax returns will no longer be able to deduct contributions to the parish unless they maintain a bank record or receive a written contribution statement from the parish. Cash contributions that are not in a parish envelope cannot be tracked by the parish and will not be included in the year-end contribution statement.
To ensure deductibility for 2007 contributions to our parish, the following payment methods are recommended:
- Use of parish envelopes
- Written check made payable to the parish
- Direct deposit from your bank account
- Payroll deduction.
ANNUAL ARCHDIOCESAN BABY SHOWER FOR THE UNBORN
will be held January 20-21 at all Masses. Your unwrapped gifts may be left at the side altar. Donations for the babies’ needs may be placed in the basket provided. Checks should be made payable to “Fund for the Unborn”. Your help is greatly appreciated.
FOOD COLLECTION
Food collection for families helped through the services of Woburn Social Concern will be held next weekend, January 27/28. Thank you for all you do for these families.
BULLETIN BITS
The U.S. Bishops’ pastoral on stewardship reinforces today’s reading from 1 Corinthians: “Because its individual members do collectively make up the Body of Christ, that body’s health and well-being are the responsibility of the members – the personal responsibility of each one of us. We all are stewards of the Church.”
WELCOME FATHER SIOLETI
We are happy to welcome to our Parish, Rev. Andrew Sioleti, IVDei, who comes to us on behalf of Cross International Catholic Outreach. Father Sioleti will be speaking at all the Masses this weekend.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Before John the Baptist, there had been no prophets for about 400 years. So people got into the ordinary routine of life. When John appeared they were surprised and curious. John demanded repentance and a baptism to prove it. Jesus comes as a teacher, a healer and revealer of divine truths. He is not believed by all. They did not want to accept a God who was a Trinity of persons, much less to accept the fact that Jesus is the beloved Son. Jesus claims that whatever He says, whatever He does, He does because the Father is with Him and has told Him what to do and what to say. Jesus went into the synagogue in His hometown. What He had to say turned them against Him. They could not accept Him because they thought they knew Him. He could work no miracle there because they had prejudged Him. They wanted no part of Him.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
