BULLETIN BITS
The three kings in today’s Gospel traveled a great distance at considerable cost to offer their richest gifts to the Infant Jesus. How far will I go and what will I offer to do homage to this newborn King and Saviour?

WHAT IS A MIRACLE?
A phone call from someone you haven’t heard from in months. A friendly, genuine hug. A favorable test result which had you worried. Laughter from a child who had been crying. A birth. A flower bursting forth in blossom. A bird singing in the midst of a rainstorm. A ray of sunlight streaming through a window. A feeling that God is indeed in His heaven and all is right with the world. Miracles come in various ways and means – all we have to do is listen and open our eyes to them. And best of all, they are free to all who seek them!
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Angels, a star, Magi from the east. Is it all material for a Christmas pageant or is it real? The evangelists tell us that history was changed by the birth of Jesus, and there were some outstanding phenomena to mark His birth. Today’s feast means to reveal or to draw back the veil that hides something. The visit of the Magi was seen by the early Christian community, which did not celebrate Christmas, as the opening up of salvation for the Gentiles. Paul would have difficulty convincing Jewish Christians that the Gentiles did not have to assume the Jewish culture nor be enveloped by all the prescriptions of the law. Faith in Jesus, evidenced by love of neighbor, was enough. The Magi were not Jewish. They brought gifts for Jesus. What gift does He really want from you and me?
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN

PRAYING THE ROSARY
The Rosary is a meditation, a time to recall and think about the life of Jesus as seen and experienced by Mary. As the model of faith, Mary’s life sets a pattern that we strive to follow: saying “yes” to God’s will in our lives and sharing His love and message with others. The Mysteries of the Rosary form a mini-lesson of faith, using the highlights and significant moments of the life of Jesus. Like paging through a family scrapbook, we see in brief the events of salvation history that are the core of our belief and the hope of our eternal life.
