HOLYDAY OF OBLIGATION

Monday, Christmas Day, December 25th, is a holyday of obligation. To clarify any confusion, attendance at mass on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning does not fulfill the Christmas obligation. You must attend mass for Christmas on Sunday afternoon at 4 or 6 pm; or Christmas morning at 7:30, 9:00 or 11:00 am.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” As Christmas draws closer and we get more active in the preparation we are reminded that if Mary did not accept God’s will there would be no Christmas. And if there were no Christmas there would be no Mass, no sacraments, no New Testament, no Catholic Church. Just as our salvation hinged on Jesus’ acceptance of God’s will to sacrifice His life on the cross, which He was free to refuse, so His birth hinged on Mary’s fiat: “Let it be done to me as you say.” Mary and Joseph didn’t have all the answers, didn’t see everything clear at all times, didn’t live in a fantasy world, but lived each day knowing that God would see them through all the ups and downs of their early married life. They were not exempt from living in the real world, nor are we. How do we handle life? By a relationship with Jesus: “Without Me you can do nothing.”
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
