FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
The cross was the most hideous, outrageous and most deplorable form of death. Only the worst, hardened, criminals were executed by crucifixion. The torture was inhuman and many of the victims were left on the cross for days and died excruciating deaths. This was the ’capital punishment’ of the day, for anyone who was convicted of a major crime. And Jesus ”humbled Himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” The cross then became the sign and symbol of the Christian, a sign of victory over death and sin. Because Jesus died in this manner, “God greatly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
