- You are searching for a church to call your own and you have a general curiosity about the Roman Catholic Church.
- You are unbaptized, or baptized in another faith, but seek communion with the Catholic Church.
- You are Catholic and attend Mass and other services regularly, but feel you are in need of sacramental preparation for reception of Eucharist or Confirmation.
- Other.
Please call the Rectory (781-933-4130) and leave a message for Deacon Jim Kerrigan. He, or someone from the RCIA team, will return the call with registration information and the schedule of meetings on Sunday mornings.

BULLETIN BITS
In today’s first reading, Joshua challenges the people to decide whom they will serve. Recalling God’s faithfulness to them and to their ances-tors, the people declare, “We also will serve the Lord, for He is our God.” May we, too, be mindful of God’s gifts to us and renew our commitment to serve Him with grateful hearts.
SPECIAL PARISH LITURGICAL EVENTS
- ANOINTING OF THE SICK
- The Sacrament of the Sick will be administered on Sunday, August 27th, at the 7:30 Mass. Who can receive this Sacrament? Those who are chronically ill, are having treatments, or will be having surgery this month. We invite you to come receive the Sacrament of the Sick, a source of strength, healing and grace. If you would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick, it would be helpful if you tell the priest before Mass.
- BAPTISM
- Baptism of infants will take place on Sunday morning at the 11 o'clock Mass.
WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!
Six beautiful babies – four boys and two girls – were welcomed through Baptism into St. Barbara’s family during the month of August.
- Emma Jane Moriarty
- Emily Rose Sasso
- Matthew Alexander Balleani
- Tyler Patrick Killilea
- Matthew William Klayman
- Adam Craig Theriault, Jr
Congratulations to the parents, godparents and the grandparents.
DOMINICAN NUNS
We have just received a phone call asking us to thank Fr. Mellone and all of you for the donations they received from their bake sale last week which totaled $1,426. They were most appreciative and hope to see everyone again next year.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Jesus lost some disciples because He told them that He would give them His flesh to eat. They missed the point entirely thinking that He meant they had to eat His raw flesh. So they left Him. If these men could not accept His teaching on the Eucharist then He could not depend on them to give themselves totally in ministry. They did not realize that they, too, would have to become Eucharist to others, that is, give the gift of self in service. Yet, He never took back what He said. Instead He let them go. He had hopes that they would come around later on, after His resurrection. When Jesus asks the twelve if they want to leave, Peter answers for them: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” To receive Christ in Holy Communion is a blessed occasion, but we do not receive the Eucharist for ourselves alone, but to become more like Christ in reaching out to others.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
