BULLETIN BITS
Today’s readings are about being chosen and sent. The Prophet Amos was chosen by the Lord and sent to use his talents for the people of God. The Gospel recounts the story of the sending of the twelve. In the second reading, St. Paul reminds us that we, too, are chosen. For what have I been chosen? To whom have I been sent?

CATHOLIC APPEAL UPDATE
As of July 7th, St. Barbara’s parishioners have donated $39,061, which is 59.82% of our goal of $65,300.00, The number of donors so far total 198 toward our target of 278. If you haven’t sent in your donation yet we hope you will be able to contribute shortly so that we will meet and hopefully surpass our goal.
FOOD PANTRY
The collection of canned food and nonperishable items will be taken up the weekend of July 29-30. In the summer months donations greatly diminish although the need is usually greater because the children do not get their lunch at school. They especially need cereals, peanut butter, jelly or jam, pasta, meat sauces, Spam, canned meats, canned fruit, fruit juices, and soup. Please try to bring at least one item to Mass with you.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Jesus sends out the apostles two by two, ordinary men who have been chosen, not because of their intellect, their noble stature in life, or their impressive credentials. They were chosen as we are. Paul says, in the second letter to the Corinthians today, that we were chosen before the world was made. We are part of God’s divine plan, the plan was to adopt us as His children. In His goodness, God has forgiven us and redeemed us in the blood of Christ. The Father has shared with us the knowledge of His will to unite all things in Christ. God has also given us the promised Spirit, which is the first installment of our inheritance. The second installment will come when we enter into glory. This is His gift of salvation. If we accept His free gift, then He rewards us for accepting the gift He gave us. How generous, how great is this God who created us to be His for all eternity!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
FATHER VIN
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
