FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Today we can say the apostles were fired up. They certainly were. The Holy Spirit empowered them to speak up and tell all the folks gathered about Jesus. Where would we be without the Holy Spirit? Imagine, there would be no Church, no baptism, no Eucharist, no confirmation, no Scriptures, no Christian community. He is the one who energizes us all. Jesus had gathered His followers and left them with a legacy of truth, but they needed more than that. They needed the Spirit of Christ. They needed to be inspired, energized, empowered to put into action what Christ had commanded. Alone they were frightened, incapable of carrying out the commands of Jesus. He changed water into wine and ordinary men into great spokesmen. What has the Spirit done for you?

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.

RECEIVING COMMUNION

We have recently received a note from the Archdiocese asking that we remind everyone about the proper reception of the Eucharist. Please extend both hands, palms up, bow your head and say “Amen” in response to “Body of Christ.” If you choose to receive the Blood of Christ, accept the cup, bow your head and respond “Amen”, take a small sip. We know you already know these things, but a little reminder is always helpful.

USED BABY EQUIPMENT NEEDED

Heartbeat Crisis Pregnancy Ctr. in Burlington needs clean baby equipment that meets current safety standards and maternity clothing in very good condition for needy pregnant women. We can also use new or nearly new baby and toddler clothing. If you would be willing to donate (bassinet, crib/mattress, swing, high chair, stroller, infant seat, toddler bed, etc. – also disposable diapers, formula or baby food) please call 781-229-7887 to arrange for drop-off or pickup, if needed.

MY LIFE IS BUT A WEAVING

My Life is but a weaving
Between my Lord and me.
I may not choose the colors,
He knows what they should be.

For He can view the pattern
Upon the upper side,
While I can see it only
On this, the under side.

Sometimes He weaves some sorrow,
Which seems so strange to me,
But I will trust His judgment,
And work out faithfully.

It is He who fills the shuttle,
And He knows what is best,
So I shall weave in earnest,
And leave to Him the rest.

Nor till the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why

The dark threads are as needed
In the Weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.
