SOMEBODY SAID…
Your mother knows you love her, so you don’t need to tell her… Somebody isn’t a mother.
This isn’t just about being a mother, it’s about appreciating the people in your life while you have them… No matter who that person is.
Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off until “some other time”.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
In the Scriptures Jesus refers to Himself as bread, shepherd, light and in today’s proclamation He calls Himself the true vine. In a bucolic and agricultural country everyone was familiar with sheep, goats and grapevines. Jesus says without Him we can do nothing - nothing at all. He is not referring just to our spiritual activities but everything we do, our work, our relationships, everything 24 h ours a day, 7 days a week. We bear “much fruit” by remaining in this relationship with Jesus. In order to make a branch bear much fruit Jesus says God prunes it, that is, he cuts away whatever is surplus, or the part of the vine that will not bear fruit. In other words, God allows us to go through things not that we will fail but that we will become stronger, better, more faithful, more obedient, more “like His Son, Jesus.”
The Lord did not have a tailored life, he had to accept the difficult, the monotonous, the disappointing, the tense occasions wherein He was “pruned” to be a more faithful servant. He, too, was tempted. He never sinned but He was tempted because He was human. We don’t take to it lightly when God’s pruning shears are at work, but there is nothing that happens to us, that He does not permit. If we step out of the parameters of His will then we have to bear the consequences of our actions, but when we try to do His will and things happen that are not easy, then we are bearing fruit and, as disciples of the Lord, we are closer to Him.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
