FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Jesus tells us that God, His Father, loves Him because He always does what is pleasing to Him, that He has one ambition, one objective in life, and that is to be pleasing to God. The only way He could be pleasing to God was to do His will, and God’s will for Him was to lay down His life for His people. That was the most difficult assignment and the purpose of Christ’s coming to earth. Yes, He was a master teacher, a healer unequalled, but with all that said, He had to do the one thing that would make a true witness and representative of God, and that was to die as He did. At thirty-three, on a cross, abandoned by all but a few, in horrid pain and agony. His divinity did not spare Him from such a fate. He was free to say “No” but He did not. And, as it was happening, those who loved Him could not fathom it. “Why? How can God ask His Son for this? What kind of a God is He?” It wasn’t until Easter that His friends realized the truth: the death of Jesus was not for Him but for them. How do we repay such a friend, a brother, a Lover?
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
