SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
- GOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION FOR THE HOLY PLACES
- Few places in the world are as precious to us as those
where Jesus walked and taught, lived and died. Your generosity can help preserve these holy places and provide for the Missioners who serve the people there.
- EASTER COLLECTION FOR THE SICK AND THE RETIRED PRIESTS
- The monies collected at Easter will be used for retirement, medical, and/or financial needs of priests of the Archdiocese. We would encourage you to give generously to this collection due to the financial difficulties facing the care of priests as rising health care costs and the less than expected investment returns have increased the levels needed for funding. All of the priests of the Archdiocese of Boston thank you for supporting us in these challenging times.
CONFESSIONS FOR EASTER
will be held next Saturday, April 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon.
BECOME A GUARDIAN OF THE EUCHARIST

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
We begin the holy week preparing us to celebrate Easter. We liturgically commemorate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. The Israelites celebrate their Passover, but Jesus replaces the sacrificial lamb with His own sacrifice on the cross. In His blood He establishes a new covenantal relationship with God. He pays our life insurance with His own body and blood. Christians hear in the gospel the anguish of Christ, and His abandonment on the cross. In the center of the drama we hear the pagan centurion profess faith in Jesus. Jesus forgives his executioners and the thief crucified with Him. His death is not in vain. Being “lifted up” He is drawing others to Himself. If He forgave those who crucified Him, the centurion among them, can He not forgive those who turn to Him seeking mercy and forgiveness? Jesus is truly divine in His mercy towards us. He deserves our friendship for what He has done for us. Let us follow him more faithfully.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.

PASTORAL COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
Our parish pastoral council here at St. Barbara’s consists of approximately a dozen parishioners whose job is to advise the pastor on a variety of matters. It is an important job, as they represent you, the parishioners. It is also important that they represent all the members of the parish. We will soon elect new members to our council. We ask you to begin thinking about who you would like to represent you on the council. Perhaps you would like to be a member yourself. On the form below please nominate the candidate you wish to sponsor. Thank you.
I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE: _________________________________________________________ TO BE A MEMBER OF ST. BARBARA’S PARISH COUNCIL.
THE OFFICE OF TENEBRAE
will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Wednesday of Holy Week, April 12th at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.
BAPTISM
We are happy to welcome into our Parish Family a delightful little baby boy – ZACHARY CALEB RICHARD BATES – who received the sacrament of Baptism from Fr. Carroll at the 4:00 pm Mass last Saturday. Congratulations to his happy parents!
