A CHUCKLE TO LEAVE ON

An exasperated mother whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him: “How do you expect to get into heaven?” The boy thought it over and said. “Well. I’ll just run in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says, “For Heaven’s sake, Jimmy, come in, or stay out.”

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

People flocked to Jesus because He was the wonder worker. Miracles, healings, stupendous signs which only a divine person could perform. And we can easily see why the people came to Jesus from all over. They wanted a better life. He healed them out of compassion. Yet, just as important is the teaching, the truth that Jesus came to teach. He leaves the crowd and, in the early hours of the morning, prays. He renews Himself God, as we must do if we are going to have a meaningful Christian life. He does not want to be just a wonder worker. His words must also move the people to action. It is the living of the word that brings miracles.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.

GIVING

Individuals who seek only to gain their own material success in life often end up feeling empty and unfulfilled. Giving to others and to causes larger than ourselves is a very real way to gain more than we give. In short, there is a benefit to the individual not only on a spiritual level but also an emotional and psychological one. People who give to others just feel better about themselves. Consider giving some of your time and talent to your Parish Ministries at Saint Barbara’s.
