URGENT MESSAGE

Have you heard about the Massachusetts Health Curriculum Frameworks and what it entails? The bill (H.1641) is pending before the Education Committee and will receive a public hearing soon. This is a call to action for pro-life parents everywhere. We are looking for people from this parish who would be available to attend the hearing at the State House in Boston on Tuesday, January 31st. We need to protect our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and neighbor’s children from this troubling and dangerous legislation. If this bill passes, it would be a mandatory requirement for children in grades kindergarten through 12 and would be required for graduation. This bill diminishes your parental rights to determine how and when the sensitive issues of sexuality, contraception methods and abortion would be taught. This bill replaces traditional moral values with “politically” correct values.

If you are interested and willing to attend the hearing at the State House, please call Catholic Citizenship Diocesan Coordinator, Bea Martins 508-678-3351.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

God had promised His people, as we read in the first reading, a prophet who will speak on God’s behalf. Jesus not only “taught unlike the scribes and Pharisees.” but He performed miracles. It was not to be a showman or a shaman, but to evoke faith in the hearts of those who listened to Him, and saw what He could do. Jesus was no sensationalist, no actor seeking approval, He seemed to shun that by telling those healed not to let anyone know about it. He did not multiply loaves and fishes as a sign that the people would have a free lunch every day, nor did He heal illness to give the impression that He was going to do everything for those who were with Him. Those He healed had work to do – share their faith, a faith that would show by good deeds. Those He fed would have to feed others, family, friends, neighbors, with concern, caring and charity. There are no “free rides” with Jesus.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
