EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education is what you get from reading the fine print;
Experience is what you get from not reading it.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

John had been arrested and was awaiting sentencing. Jesus knew that time was precious and He needed helpers. So He calls on Peter, Andrew, James and John to follow Him and become disciples. They had met Him on several occasions and when He called they were ready, convinced that He was unique among men. No hesitation, no doubts at all, they left their business to make His business – gathering others – their business. The message of Jesus is backed up with powerful deeds. For them there is no mistaking that Jesus came from God. His words, His deeds, were proof enough that God was in Him doing the work. Jesus was not a circus performer, nor an entertainer. His words and powerful deeds were to evoke in the observer repentance and faith. It is never enough to be able to quote the scriptures, or know chapter and verse alone. It is the living, the putting into action the words of Jesus that makes one a true follower. How does the saying go: “Actions speak louder than words.”

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.

URGENT MESSAGE

Have you heard about the Massachusetts Health Curriculum Frameworks and what it entails? The bill (H.1641) is pending before the Education Committee and will receive a public hearing soon. This is a call to action for pro-life parents everywhere. We are looking for people from this parish who would be available to attend the hearing at the State House in Boston on Tuesday, January 31st. We need to protect our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and neighbor’s children from this troubling and dangerous legislation. If this bill passes, it would be a mandatory requirement for children in grades kindergarten through 12 and would be required for graduation. This bill diminishes your parental rights to determine how and when the sensitive issues of sexuality, contraception methods and abortion would be taught. This bill replaces traditional moral values with “politically” correct values.

If you are interested and willing to attend the hearing at the State House, please call Catholic Citizenship Diocesan Coordinator, Bea Martins 508-678-3351. A transportation plan is in progress to bring people to the State House.
