FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Last week we saw Mary, Joseph and the child Jesus at the Temple, forty days after His birth. This week the gospel presents us with the visit of the Magi to the Town of Bethlehem, probably after the presentation in the Temple. They come on a journey because of a star they had been following. They bring gifts to Him, but Jesus is God’s gift to all of us. Our brother has come. History will never be the same. Jesus came to His own people in order to lead all people to God. He is the representative and witness of God’s being. Listening to Him, watching Him at work, we will see the power and the mercy of God. He has come for all his sisters and brothers regardless of race and nationality. This “epiphany” is the sign that the world has been waiting for. God exists. God loves His creation. God is truly good. Jesus has come to reveal that in His words and actions. May we come to realize that more and more in the new year.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH SO FAITHFULLY AND WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR PARISHIONERS WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.
