FROM THE DEACON'S DESK ~
This
past Wednesday, November 11 was Veterans Day! In my opinion, a holiday that
has become rather understated and disapprovingly marked with little
celebration! Why? I cannot really say, perhaps political correctness or
perhaps the simple busyness of life. As Catholic-Americans, we have to
remember the sacrifices made for our religious freedom by all who have
served, in the military. Lets not let another day pass without
remembering the sacrifices made for our religious freedom.

FROM THE DEACON'S DESK ~
Several weeks ago, I was at our Parish School, East Boston Central Catholic, as the Mystery Reader for the Second Grade. In the classroom, there was a bulletin board with several prayers. The prayer that brought me back to my youth was the Prayer to My Guardian Angel
Angel of
God, My guardian dear
To Whom His love commits me here
Ever this day Be at my side
To light and guard To rule and guide. Amen
The belief in Guardian Angels can be traced to the beginning of time. The practice that every individual soul has a Guardian Angel has never been defined by the Church and is, consequently, not an article of faith, but it is in the "mind of the Church", as St. Jerome expressed it: "how great the dignity of the soul, since each one has from his birth an angel commissioned to guard it." (Comm. in Matt., xviii, lib. II). Ever feel alone? Need some extra help? Looking for an answer? Why not just ask your Guardian Angel?
Mark your calendar ..
The Saint Alphonsus de Ligouri Circle meets immediately after the 8:30 a.m. Holy Hour for Vocations on Saturday November 14th. If you are wondering what the Saint Alphonsus de Ligouri Circle is, it our Parish Vocations Committee, dedicated to increase awareness of vocations, within our Parish Family and to mentor those called to serve the Church.
All are welcomed.
