Services for Catechetical Leaders
The Office of
Religious Education is available to help parishes seeking catechetical
leadership for a parish program. The
ORE staff works with pastoral staffs and Parish Education Commissions to:
- Assess parish needs
- Define catechetical
responsibilities
- Facilitate placement of certified
catechetical leaders
- Provide job descriptions for
catechetical leaders
- Supply interview
guidelines/questionnaire
- Assist with catechist formation
and certification
- Offer possible solutions to a
parish’s particular situation.
The ORE provides
parish catechetical leaders with information to enhance their ministry and
effectiveness, and opportunities for spiritual formation including:
- Archdiocesan Guidelines for DREs, CREs,
and AREs
- DRE/CRE/ARE Role and Lay
Compensation Guidelines
- Professional updating and
enrichment
- Days of Prayer

Consultation on program planning, textbooks, and video usage
- Assistance in establishing a
parish Religious Education Commission
- Ongoing support and assistance in designing,
implementing, and evaluating parish religious education programs, sacrament
programs, programs for children
and youth with different learning abilities, and programs for adult faith
formation.

Resource Center
The Resource Room is open Monday through Friday, from 9:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M.
Because of security at the Pastoral Center, we advise calling ahead to
make sure that someone will be available to meet you and escort you to the
Resource Room.
Texts
New and revised religious texts (Kindergarten-Adult) are available for review in
the Resource Room. Parishes
considering changing textbook series or looking for sacrament preparation
materials are encouraged to examine the samples available in the Resource Room
and consult with the ORE staff. Browsers are most welcome in the Resource Room.
Reference Materials
Books and periodicals in areas of theology, liturgy and catechetical methods are
available in the Resource Room as well as resources for Christian formation,
prayer, and catechist development.
Media Library
Video materials in VHS and DVD format, covering a broad area of religious
educational needs, are available for rent from the media library of the ORE. A
Video Catalogue is available for purchase ($5.00).
Contact the ORE to order a catalogue or reserve videos.
Pastors and catechetical leaders may visit the Resource Room to preview
videos.
