ão Paulo diz-nos para nos avaliarmos a nós próprios. Ganhar o pão de cada dia para as nossas famílias é um objectivo importante e necessário. Mas mesmo aqueles que têm todos os confortos materiais sentem uma necessidade de mais qualquer coisa. É o desejo pelo Pão da Vida que pode matar a nossa fome espiritual. Decidamos pois, receber a Eucaristia sempre que seja possível.

aint Paul calls on us to assess ourselves. Providing daily bread for our families is an important and necessary goal. Yet even those with all the material comforts yearn for something more. This desire is for the Bread of Life, which can cure all of our spiritual hunger. Let us resolve then to receive the Eucharist whenever possible.

COLECTA PARA OS SERVIÇOS DE APOIO CATÓLICO – Na próxima semana a segunda colecta é para os Serviços de Apoio Católico. Esta colecta apoia o serviço de emergência, desenvolvimento humano, e iniciativas de paz em 99 países ao redor do mundo, onde metade da população vive com menos de 2.00 dólares por dia. Os fundos desta colecta servem os ministérios de cinco organizações da Igreja Católica: Serviços de Refugio Católicos (CRS), Serviço Legal Católico de Imigração, Inc. (CLÍNICA), Migração e Serviços de Refugio (SRA.), Desenvolvimento Social e Paz Mundial (SDWP), e o Fundo de Apoio ao Santo Padre.

 

4ª PEREGRINAÇÃO BRASILEIRA – No domingo dia 9 de Agosto de 2009 no Santuário Nacional de Nossa Senhora de Salette em Attleboro, celebra-se a Anual Quarta Peregrinação Brasileira, presidida pelo Reverendo Padre Paulo Barbosa, que terá lugar às 14h00, a Liturgia será ao ar livre no Jardim do Fantasma. Para mais iformações veja o anúncio no quadro à entradda da Igreja. Todos são bem-vindos.

 

ATENÇÃO: Escursão Atlantic City e Nova York

Dois dias de escursão organizada pela Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Fáima “The Rocketts”. Partida a 13 de Dezembro e regresso a 14. O espaço é limitado. Preço por pessoa: Quarto Duplo $199.00, Individual $232.00 e triplo $197.00. A escursão inclui transporte de autocarro; uma noite no Hotel Casino; com uma refeição tipo bufete; $10.00 em moedas; espectáculo no hotel, espectáculo do Natal em Nova York; e taxas do hotel. O Deposito de $50.00, não tem retorno, é feito com as reservas. O segundo autocarro já começou a ser preenchido depressa, se está interessado em ir, as reservas deverão ser feitas o mais breve possível. Catholic Appeal 2009 –

We have already raised $3,935.00 towards our parish goal of $5,000. Remember, our parish will receive 25% of all funds we raise above our goal. So each gift has the potential to increase parish revenue while still supporting the ministries funded by the Catholic Appeal. Thank you to all the families who have already participated. If you have not yet given, please consider a gift today and help us meet our goal. Please take an envelope that is located at the entrance of the church; you can mail them directly or place them in the offertory baskets during the weekend collections.

 

ATTENTION: Religious Education - Registration for the 2009/2010 Religious Education school year have been taking place during these weeks. Office hours are from Mon – Fri. 3-5PM, registering your children during this time will enable us to order the correct quantity of books, and assign teachers. Registration fees:

$75 - First child;

$25 – for additional child.

$25 - Sacramental Fee: First Communion & Confirmation.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES COLLECTION – Next week’s second collection is for Catholic Relief Services. This collection supports emergency relief, human development, and peace initiatives in 99 countries around the world, where nearly half the population lives on less than $2.00 a day. The collection funds the ministries of five Catholic Church organizations: Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC), Migration and Refugee Services (MRS), Social Development and World Peace (SDWP), and The Holy Father’s Relief Fund.

 

Brazilian pilgrimage – On Sunday, August 9, 2009 in honor of Our Lady of the National Shrine of La Salette in Attleboro, the Fourth Annual Brazilian Pilgrimage will take place. Rev. Father Paulo Barbosa will celebrate a special Liturgy at 2:00 p.m. at the outdoor setting of the Garden of the Apparition. A Prayer for Priests and Priestly Vocations

 

 

          Heavenly Father,  please grant to Your faithful servants, the grace and strength to carry out Your mission for the church each day. Keep our priests close to You and     continue to inspire them to serve others in Your holy name.  Please help to inspire men who are called to a priestly vocation and

answer Your call and participate in the     fullness that You have planned for them.  Amen.

Em nome da Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Luz, na Graciosa, venho por este meio, e muito respeitosamente, agradecer todo o vosso trabalho e generosidade para com esta Igreja. Em dever de consciência, tenho também de pedir desculpa pelo carácter tardio desta missiva, mas os deveres sacerdotais, pastorais e as muitas obras que me ocupam nas três comunidades que sirvo, impediram-me de me dirigir mais cedo a todos vós, caros emigrantes.  

 

Todo o empenho das vossas comunidades em favor das obras da nossa Igreja rendeu um total de $25.342.00 dólares, que em euros perfez a quantia de 18.838.83 €. É sem dúvida uma ajuda muito preciosa. Com este dinheiro já pudemos restaurar todas as imagens que faltavam, incluindo S. José, arranjamos o salão da Igreja e começamos já substituição do telhado da Igreja.

 

Por todas estas razões agradecemos a todas as instituições e pessoas particulares que de uma forma ou de outra não esquecem a sua Igreja e a sua Ilha. Gostaria de fazer um agradecimento particular ao Faustino Melo porque desde a primeira hora se mostrou muito empenhado na realização desta acção, e mais uma vez um agradecimento especial a todos.

 

Junto destas letras vão também algumas fotos que permitem vislumbrar o que se já se fez e estamos fazendo.

 

Do fundo da nossa alma muito obrigado, que Nossa Senhora da Luz vos recompense e guarde.

peabody and lowell –

 

On behalf of the Our Lady of Light Church in Graciosa, Azores, I would like to thank you for all your work and generosity towards our church. I apologize for being late, but I have been very busy with the three communities where I serve, that is the reason I did not write to you earlier.

 

 

All the effort of your communities in favor of the reconstruction of our church raised the profit of $25,342.00; witch equals in the amount of 18,838.83 euros. It was with out a doubt, a precious help. We were able to pay for the remaining statues, including St. Joseph’s, we fixed the Church Hall and we already started working on the roof of the church.

 

 

For all these reasons, we want to thank all the organizations and people that one way or another never forgot their church and their island. Very special thanks to Faustino Melo and a special thank you to all who helped.

 

 

On the reverse side of this letter are some photos to show what we have been doing.

 

 

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you so much and we pray that Our Lady of Light will reward you and protect you.
