Evangelho: João 15: 1-8

^{o Evangelho do Domingo passado,}^{Jesus
dizia “Eu sou o Bom Pastor”. Hoje diz-nos “Eu sou a videira, e vós
sois os seus ramos”. Esta afirmação significa e representa a
maravilhosa realidade da nossa união com Cristo Jesus, íntima, verdadeira e permamente.
Só assim poderemos produzir frutos abundantes.}

^{É importante também
notar que o Evangelho deste Domingo repete oito vezes a palavra “permanecer”.
É a palavra chave para todos nós compreendermos a necessidade de estar e viver
unidos ao Divino Mestre. De facto a palavra “permanecer” não significa
apenas “estar junto” ou “estár perto de “ mas significa “viver
com”. Viver com Deus, morar na Sua Presença.}

^{Só nesta
união com Cristo pela fé, é que nós poderemos produzir frutos abundantes de
fidelidade, perseverança e boas obras.}

Nossa senhora de fátima

Felizmente, a devoção a Nossa Senhora de Fátima está espalhada por todo o mundo bem como a Sua mensagem de Penitência e Oração. Desde o princípio, foi sempre a mesma mensagem, anunciada e pedida, com toda a urgência, aos Três Pastorinhos, Lúcia, Francisco e Jacinta, pela Virgem Maria.

Embora inocentes, os Três Pastorinhos levaram muito a sério o pedido da Mãe Celestial, pondo-o em prática em todas as oportunidades que surgiram todos os dias, duma maneira fiel e até heroica, em muitos casos.

O mesmo espírito de penitência e oração continua nos nossos dias, em Fátima e praticamente em todo o mundo. Fátima não é lugar de turísmo, e terra de fé e de encontro com Deus e Sua Mãe Maria Santíssima, Nossa Senhora de Fátima, rogai por nós, pecadores, agora e sempre. Amen.

^{n the last Sunday Gospel}^{, Jesus said “I am the Good Shepherd”.
On today’s Gospel, He says “I am the Vine, you are the Branches”.
These words mean the marvelous reality of our intimate and permanent union with
Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is the only way to yield good and abundant fruits.}

^{It is also important that this
Sunday’s Gospel repeats the word “remain” eight times. It is the
key-word for us all to understand the need to be and live united to our Divine
Master. In fact, the word “remain” does not mean just to be
close to but it means “to live with”, to live with the Lord
and share His Divine Presence.}

^{It is only with this kind of union
with Jesus, through Faith; we become able to yield those most abundant fruits
and good deeds.}

OUR LADY OF FATIMA

Fortunately, the devotion to Our Lady of Fatima is spread all over the world as well as the Message of Prayer and Penance. Right from the very beginning in 1917 it was always the same message announced and urgently requested by the Most Blessed Virgin to the Three Little Shepherds, Lucia Francisco and Jacinta.

Although really innocent, the Three Little Shepherds took very seriously the request of Our Celestial Mother, taking advantage of every opportunity that came along every single day, faithfully and bravely.

The some spirit of prayer and penance continues nowadays in the Sanctuary of Fatima and all over the world, Fatima is not a place of Tourism, it is a land of faith and a Place to meet God and His Mother, Mary Most Holy. Our Lady of Fatima pray for us. Amen

Ultreia dos Cursilhistas – A reunião do Centro de Ultreia de Peabody, foi cancelada no dia 6 em virtude de começar o Triduo para Nª Srª de Fátima. A próxima será no dia 13 de Maio, na Nossa Igreja, com início às 6h30 da tarde. Cristo Conta Contigo!

Missão de Recurso - Todos os anos somos chamados a tornar-se mais conscientes e mais envolvidos na Missão Actividade da Igreja Católica em todo o mundo, através da participação na Missão Co-op Programa da Sociedade para a Propagação da Fé. Este ano, a nossa Missão de Recurso anual será a 24 de Maio. A Irmã Lisa Valentini, uma Irmã Missionária do Sagrado Coração de Jesus - e nativa da Pensilvânia, que tem sido uma missionária por 25 anos e acaba de regressar da República Dominicana, onde esteve 8 ½ anos, vai visitar-nos e partilhar connosco o Trabalho Missionário da sua Congregação. A 2 ª colecta dessa semana irá apoiar o trabalho da Irmã Lisa da Congregação.

Excurção a Portugal e Espanha

A agência Gomes em colaboração com o Padre Josè Ferreira estão a preparar uma excursão a Portugal, e Norte de Espanha em Setembro de 2009. Esta viagem inclui Peregrinação a Santiago de Compostela em Espanha, o Roteiro dos Vinhos no Alto Douro, visitas aos Santuários incluindo o de Nossa Senhora. de Fátima e Mosteiro de Alcobaça, Lisboa e outros lugares de interesse turístico em Portugal. MEETING FOR CURSILHISTA BEGIN – The Portuguese Secretariat of Boston invites all the cursilistas to renovate our faith. The meeting for May 6 will be canceled because of the triduum. It will take place on Wednesday, May 13^th at 6:30 PM, in our Church. Christ Counts on You!

Mission Appeal - Each year we are asked to become more conscious of and more involved in the Mission Activity of the Catholic Church throughout the world, by participating in the Mission Co-op Program of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. This year, our annual Mission Appeal is on May 24th. Sister Lisa Valentini, a Missionary Sister of the Sacred Heart of Jesus – and a native of Pennsylvania, who has been a Missionary for 25 years and has just returned from 8 ½ years in the Dominican Republic, will visit us and share with us about the Missionary Work of her Congregation. The 2^nd collection on that weekend will support the work of Sr. Lisa’s Congregation.

TRIP TO PORTUGAL AND SPAIN –

Gomes Agency in collaboration with Rev. José Ferreira are preparing a trip to Portugal and Northern Spain in September 2009. This journey includes a Pilgrimage to Santiago of Compostela in Spain, a visit to the vines of Alto Douro where the delicious Port Wine is from, and many other interesting tourist attractions in Portugal. Once again it is time for our annual St Thomas Yard Sale. We are planning on Saturday May 30^th – rain or shine.
