Mary Young reported that the Archdiocese has plans for the Year of Faith. A series of live classes will be offered every Monday from 7-8 PM through April, 2013, and participants may attend in person at the Pastoral Center or via the Internet. Other activity ideas include:
Encounter: (a) promote Eucharistic Adoration after Mass. Fr. Shen suggested a start date on the 4th Sunday of every month beginning this month. Fifteen minutes of quiet Adoration will begin immediately following the 4th Sunday Mass, (b) form Bible sharing groups, (c) year-round Sacrament of Reconciliation, (d) offer pilgrimages in April & September; Mary will coordinate with the Immaculate Heart of Mary group, (e) honor the Blessed Virgin, which we have been doing.
Growth in Faith: (a) participate in Why Catholic? series, (b) baptismal preparation, (c) encourage corporate acts of mercy by training volunteers on how to greet the sick, the elderly & homebound; Fr. Shen to coordinate, (d) encourage vocations; Fr. O'Leary suggested teenage Youth Group members attend the St. Andrew Dinner (held at St. John's Seminary) to gain exposure to seminary life and the priesthood.
Witness: (a) offer Service Day in June to beautify the parish; Laura Chan can coordinate, (b) host parish retreat, which we have been doing, (c) give witness to faith; Mary suggested rounding up a few people to do witness & call on Ramon's help with videography.

There will be 15 minutes of Adoration every 4th Sunday

|
Welcoming Commission:
|
Agatha Tong passed out a calendar to Fr. O'Leary for the Cathedral. St. James is featured for February.
Directory of names: Agatha to work with Vincent Fung to update changes of address. Fr. Shen suggested adding parishioners' pictures along with address information to match name to the face in the directory. It should be optional and not a requirement. Concerns regarding privacy and security were brought up. Will be looked into.
|
Social Life:
|
May May SooHoo shared her Chinese New Year program which will be held on February 10th.
 Lion Dance demonstration
Chinese New Year greetings by SJPPC members
 Chinese folk dance performance
 Tai Chi demonstration
Religious Ed student to do a performance on the violin
 Buffet lunch
Fr. Shen suggested keeping program under 30 minutes, though 45 minutes is more likely. Because the Lion Dance demonstration tends to be long, May May will ask the troupe to cut down on the time.
