On September 29, 1891, ground was broken for St. Bernard Abbey, named in honor of the famous eleventh-century French abbot and doctor of the Church. |
| In 1893 Father Romanus Veitl was the first member of the community lain to rest in the Abbey cemetery. Father Veitl’s grave marker reminds us of St Bernard’s traditions that have been passed on for more than a century. |
