Mother Maria Celeste  Venerable Mother Maria Celeste Venerable Mother
    Maria Celeste Crostarosa

Our foundress is the Venerable Mother Maria Celeste, who was born in Naples, Italy, of a noble family, in 1696 and died at Foggia in 1755 on the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross.

At the moment of her death, St. Gerard Majella, a Redemptorist lay-Brother, who had a profound friendship with her, saw her soul flying to heaven as a white dove. Her body lies incorrupt at the Monastery of Redemptoristine Nuns in Foggia, and is much venerated in that city.

The Cause for her canonization was introduced on 11th August, 1901, by an Apostolic Decree which declared her Venerable.
