THE ORDER OF ST. PAUL THE FIRST HERMIT
(The Pauline Monks)
The Order of St. Paul the First Hermit is a monastic Order founded in Hungary in 1215.
Early in its history the Order was associated with the running of Marian shrines, most notably those of Marianosztra in Hungary and Czestochowa in Poland.
The Order follows the Rule of St. Augustine and wears a white habit similar to that of the Dominicans, but with a wide white belt rather than a black one.
In Australia the Order conducts the Marian shrines of "Penrose Park", Berrima, "Marian Hills", Tarcutta (both in N.S.W.) and "Marian Valley", Canungra, (Queensland), as well as the parishes of Tumbarumba and Tarcutta, (N.S.W.) and Dromana, (Victoria).
The Pauline Order is a clerical Order that is made up of both priests and brothers. The life of the Order is semi-contemplative. Its candidates for the priesthood study at Vianney College, Wagga Wagga.
