Sacraments

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

For those who desire to become Catholic or to complete their initiation into the Catholic Church, our parish offers a preparation process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. For those who are considering becoming Catholic, the R.C.I.A. provides an opportunity to learn about the Faith and ask questions in a welcoming environment. For more information, please contact the Office of Religious Education.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC)

The R.C.I.C., an adaptation of the R.C.I.A., is a sacramental preparation process intended for children who, for whatever reason, were not baptized as infants. We also include children (ages 6 and older) who are already baptized and are preparing for the sacraments of Penance, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. For more information, please contact the Office of Religious Education.

Infant Baptism

Baptisms for infants and young children are typically celebrated twice each month. Parents who wish to have their children baptized are asked to attend two preparation sessions prior to the baptism. Please contact the Office of Religious Education for more information.

First Penance and First Holy Eucharist

Children typically celebrate First Penance and First Holy Communion in the spring of the 2nd grade year. Preparation for these sacraments is a two-year process that begins in the 1st grade. Please contact the Office of Religious Education for more information.

Confirmation

Children typically celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation in the fall of the 9th grade year. Preparation for the sacrament is a two-year process that begins in the 7th grade. Please contact the Office of Religious Education for more information.

Adult Confirmation

Preparation sessions for baptized adult Catholics who have not yet celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation are held each Spring. Bishop Loverde confirms adults at Saint Thomas More Cathedral on the Feast of Pentecost every year. Adults who would like to be confirmed should contact the Office of Religious Education no later than February.

Matrimony

Registered Parishioners who wish to be married are asked to contact one of the priests or deacons six months in advance of their intended marriage. Premarital preparation is required by Diocesan policy.

Anointing of the Sick

Please notify the parish office of parishioners who are hospitalized or confined to home and desire visitation or Eucharist or anointing. Communal anointing services are celebrated in Advent and Lent.
