COMMUNITY SERVICE/OUTREACH & SOCIAL JUSTICE

Year-Round Activities | Seasonal Activities

The Outreach Committee coordinates, initiates and supports social ministry programs in the parish. Can you help but don't know what to do? Perhaps you could help create posters and flyers, do home repairs, make phone calls, maybe your time is limited and you can only help once a year? The committee welcomes your assistance, suggestions, comments, and ideas and invites you to contact any of the following for information on how to get involved:

Arlington Interfaith Council
The Arlington Interfaith Council is an organization of 50 churches and 15 non-profit agencies in Arlington working together to meet urgent and ongoing needs in Arlington. Meetings are held the third Monday of the month. Contact: Monica Shumann at (703) 536-3277.

Rebuilding Together Program
St. Ann's 2005 Rebuilding Together (formerly "Christmas In April") Program. Based on the last two year's outstanding responses for the "Christmas in April" program, we are planning to do it again. Over the next 5-6 weeks, we are looking to sign-up St. Ann parishioners to team up again with individuals from Resurrection Lutheran Church. Christmas in April, for those unfamiliar, is a charitable effort that allows church and civic groups to perform repairs and renovations on the house of a deserving elderly and/or handicapped neighbor. If interested, you need to save the date of Saturday, April 30th from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The volunteers will be working on the project throughout the day to complete various needed tasks -- from indoor electrical, painting, patching and plumbing repairs to outdoor stair and handrail construction. To sign on or just to find out more, please contact Matthew Doyle at (703) 907-8335 or send an e-mail to matthew.doyle@baesystems.com with your name, phone, e-mail and repair skill area or complete the online sign-up form. Read more about Rebuilding Together at www.rebuildingtogether.org.
