Lector Program

Lectors are volunteers from the parish community. The lector's primary duty is to proclaim the word of God. It takes a dedicated and responsible person to proclaim the word of God. Knowledge of the AUTHOR of the Scriptures is an ESSENTIAL characteristic for a Lector. Lectors should also have good diction, articulation and reading skills. Feeling at ease talking in the front of a large group of people is also a plus. A brief training exercise in Lector procedures is required prior to being assigned as a lector. Lectors work in pairs. New Lectors are paired with an experienced Lector for direction and support. Lectors are scheduled once every four weeks.
