My personal thoughts go to all the participants and facilitators and organizers of your parish council’s project of “Listening Sessions”.
A good number of people gathered to share their thoughts and offer their hopes for our parish in the future.
Thirty-three years ago, when I came as the new pastor, I asked parishioners to gather in groups in their homes to tell me about the parish and what they would want, what they would like to see.
Now, as I come to the completion of being the pastor, like “the other bookend”, the results of these most recent discussions will be collected and reflected upon as St. Vincent’s looks to the future with a Parish Life Director and a Sacramental Minister instead of a resident pastor. Reports from the various listening sessions indicate a community of interested and dedicated parishioners.
My thoughts, my hopes and my prayers. Now, on to the Season of Advent.
